WATSONIA SEEDS WATSONIOIDES - 10 WATSONIA SEEDS

Watsonia is a genus in the iridaceae of over 50 species from both the winter and summer rainfall areas of Southern Africa. Many are quite tall with fans of sword-shaped leaves and showy flowers.

There are 56 accepted species in southern Africa, with two varieties and about 112 names either unresolved or regarded as synonyms.  All are perennial herbs growing from corms and producing erect spikes of showy flowers. Most are fynbos plants, adapted to a Mediterranean type climate but some occur in the eastern and inland areas of the country and have adapted to a wider range of conditions.  

. Watsonia watsonioides. The flower color is unique in Watsonias. Growing from .5 to 1 m, it has pale yellow to cream flowers. The spike is congested with 25 to 50 or more flowers on the main axis; the outer bracts are green at the base, clasping only at the base and the inner are brown deeply forked. This species is distinguished by having small flowers, a relatively dense and many-flowered spike and one or two narrow, linear basal leaves with heavily thickened margins.
