Its all about a journalist across Africa. Experiences range from the Congo to Uganda's Idi Amin. There are references to Evelyn Waugh's classic novel "Scoop" concerning a reporter in Africa. One day, the author found an ex-King's African's Rifles soldier waiting at his car to report the British flag was upside down. Back in his day, that would have meant court martial.  The ex-soldier tuned Munnion that it was NOT a Union Jack because that term correctly refers to the pole holding the Union Flag.  Reporters were concentrated in a specific hotel in Kampala where their phone calls were monitored.  One guy reported to Fleet Street, via his wife.  A spy interrupted and demanded he must only speak his native language. The reporter explained his native language was Welsh Gaelic. There are stories galore of irony, humour and pathos.
