We Set Sail - Something About THe Moon CD

We Set Sail is a cinematic instrumental post-rock band from Cape Town, South Africa. Originally founded in 2006 by Marné Gelderbloem as an open-ended vehicle for artistic expression, the group grew organically and formally introduced their music to the South African circuit in 2009. Today We Set Sail is a 5-piece band consisting of Marné on guitars, Richard Brunyee on keys and synth, Joao Luis Lanca Henriques on guitar, Breda Weise on drums and Lee Thomson on trumpet and flügelhorn. The band members come from musical backgrounds as diverse as jazz, classical, samba, metal, rock and punk and their writing process is a collaborative effort that results in a wholly unique sound. The group's first album, Something About The Moon, was well received by the South African public in 2013 and lead to collaborative commercial efforts with Design Indaba, Sailor Jerry and Absolut Vodka, as well as a successful run on the local festival circuit (Synergy, Park Acoustics, Rocking the Daisies, Harvest Fest) and further afield (Malaysia, Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, Namibia).
