This is a beautiful vintage Weatherby Royal Falcon Ware commemorative plate, made in Hanley, England and dated January 1972 (marked 172 on the backstamp).

The plate features a richly detailed illustration of Edward Plantagenet, The Black Prince (13301376), one of Englands most legendary medieval knights and the eldest son of King Edward III. The border is deep cobalt blue with ornate 24ct gold gilt decoration, making it a striking display piece for collectors of English porcelain, heraldry, or medieval history memorabilia.
