Leptospermum brachyandrum commonly known as the Weeping Tea Tree, is a delightful weeping shrub to some 5 metres in height This species is much prized for its fine weeping foliage and trunk colour. Trunks lose their bark in strips to expose a shiny smooth surface, delicately coloured in greys and soft pink shades. The linear-lanceolate leaves are up to 5 cm long. Flowers on this species are white, small (to about 7mm) and occur in spring and summer. Weeping tea tree is primarily a riverine species found in the wild from northern New South Wales to north Queensland. It is frequently inundated and can tolerate wet to boggy soils. Frost hardy it can it can take temperatures down to -7* C in conditions of normal rainfall, as well as heavy shade.
