Koos Prinsloo het sedert 1982 drie bundels gepubliseer. In 1988 bekroon die beoordelaars sy tweede bundel, Die hemel help ons, moet die Rapportprys vir letterkunde. Die direksie van die Sondagkoerant wat die prys borg, het egter weens 'n aweregse verwysing deur 'n regse karakter in die boek na PW Botha geweier om die prys toe te ken. In 1991 is Prinsloo as wenner aangewys van die kortverhaalwedstryd van De Kat, Antenne, Saambou en HAUM-Literr vir "Die wond" wat later in sy derde bundel, Slagplaas opgeneem is. Weifeling is sy vierde boek.
