Investment Painting by Welcome Mandela Koboka born in Johannesburg in 1941 and died in 1997, he deserves recognition as one of the pioneering painters in post -war South Africa in abstraction.Koboka developed a distinct personal style in that he painted everyday life in the city and Townships of Johannesburg and the surrounding landscape.Kokoka's style which was based on the abstracted  simplification of the form, shows incredible consistency throughout his oeuvre. A distinguishing characteristic of his acrylic paint was his palette knife technique which produced a gritty surface with graphic qualities whist imbuing his figures with weighted monementality. He exibited his work locally and in Austia and the USA. Several Private and Public collections hold his pieces.

This painting shows his distict style with a palette knife it is framed on board and signed and dated 1974.
