The odyssey of the Baralong. From the town of Campbell along the Vaal river Wesleyan missionaries travelled eastwards along the Vaal river in search of any Bechuana tribe to connect with in order to establish a mission station. Reaching Platberg in 1826 they achieve their goal. However in 1833, Platberg was over-populated and a mass migration eastwards to the Caledon valley took place. Here they lived peacefully until the arrive of the Emigrant Frontiersmen from the Cape in 1836 created a new situation. foxing throughout.
