it’s been some time since gamers have had an original female lead who has pushed the envelope of the action/shooter genre. Thanks to Bethesda Softworks and developer Artificial Mind & Movement (A2M), we now have such a character who not only comes along to stir things up, she does so without having to rely on sex appeal to get attention. Rubi Malone, Wet’s protagonist, is a bad-ass, gun-toting, sword-carrying, whiskey-drinking lady who has plenty of attitude and style to take the gaming industry by storm. Drop her in an over-the-top Tarentino/“Grindhouse”-inspired action/shooter, and you’ve got yourself one of 2009’s most exciting releases. 

Regardless of the fact that Wet has a star-studded cast of voice talent, such as Malcolm McDowell as the game’s villain, Mr. Eckers, and Eliza Dushku as Rubi, the game itself is a creative approach to a classic genre that feels more fresh than anything we’ve seen in a long time. Right out of the gate, Wet’s opening scene sets the tone for the rest of the game, giving players just enough of a taste to whet their appetites for more.
