Founded by its namesake in Racine, Wisconsin in 1924, the John Oster Manufacturing Company was created to provide products to the barber and beauty supply market. Hand operated hair clippers were the company's first product, and by 1928, Oster had introduced electrically operated, motor driven clippers. With growing sales, the successful company expanded its product line over the next decade to include massagers and other personal care items.
