What Obstacle?

This is National Epilepsy Week and we need your help!

Many times in our lives we stand in front of choices.  Choices that will define the course of our lives, but often choices that will influence the lives of others around us as well.  People with epilepsy have to make similar choices, but regularly these choices are influenced by questions such as: "Will I still be accepted by my friends, colleagues, family?"; "Will I be able to have a love relationship with that special person?";  "Will I be safe when I have a seizure while going to work, going to the shop or attending classes?"

These obstacles have the potential to inhibit and limit the options available to persons with epilepsy, but the greatest obstacle of all is the influence that other people have on the course of the life of a person with epilepsy.  The manner in which we choose to treat a person with epilepsy, whether in the classroom, at work or on the train will have a direct influence on the future of that person.  The responsibility lies with us.  When confronted with such a choice, what will you choose for the future of a person with epilepsy?

Your R50 donation will enable Epilepsy South Africa to send an educational schools kit to two schools in South Africa. This kit includes epilepsy information material for both teachers and parents, but with specific fun learning-activities for children. By donating R50, you are helping us to educate a whole new generation of South Africans on understanding and embracing persons with epilepsy and other disabilities.

Is this how you would choose the future of a child with epilepsy?

By joining us in turning obstacles into true potential with your R50 donation, we will send
you the What Obstacle? wristband. Wearing this wristband states that:

In recognising the strength of people with epilepsy,
I recognise the true strength in myself.”

Donate now through the Buy Now option and receive the official What Obstacle? wristband free!
(One wristband per every R50 donated)
