VERY RARE VINTAGE MUSICAL INSTRUMENT FROM NORTH AFRICA (MOROCCO) - FAKROUN GUNIBRI - BLACK WITH ETCHED/CARVED DECORATIONS

THIS RARE VINTAGE MUSICAL INSTRUMENT IS FROM MOROCCO AND IS KNOWN AS A GUNIBRI. THIS PARTICULAR ONE IS CRAFTED FROM A GENUINE TORTOISE SHELL WITH THICK SKIN PULLED TIGHT AND SECURED UNDERNEATH. THE USE OF THE TORTOISE SHELL RESULTS IN THIS RARE ITEM BEING KNOWN AS A FAKROUN (TORTOISE) GUNIBRI. A SERIES OF PERFECTLY CYLINDRICAL HOLES HAVE BEEN MADE IN THE SKIN WHICH ASSISTS WITH SOUND QUALITY WHEN THE ITEM IS STRUMMED. THE WOOD STEM IS BLACK WITH CARVED PATTERNS AND TWO NYLON STRINGS ARE ATTACHED TO WOOD SHAFTS/PEGS INSERTED INTO HOLES AT THE TOP OF THE STEM. ONE HOLE IS VACANT MEANING A THIRD STRING IS MISSING. THIS COULD EASILY BE REPAIRED BY MERELY INSERTING ANOTHER PEG/SHAFT AND ATTACHING A LENGTH OF GUT / NYLON
