The author grew up in a radical family in Jewish Durban, then became an activist with the African National Congress, meeting people like Nelson Mandela and Oliver Tambo. After her husband David Kitson was sentenced to prison for his part in the High Command of the rebel ANC guerrillas, the author was persecuted by the South African police and eventually forced into exile. ( where she came into increasing conflict with the ANC bureaucracy).  326 pp.
