White Cloud Mountain Minnow (Tanichthys albonubes)
A hardy, peaceful schooling fish with shimmering silver-green scales and red fins. Reaching up to 4 cm, they thrive in cooler water (1622°C) and are easy to care for, making them a popular choice for beginners and community tanks.

The White Cloud Mountain Minnow is a classic choice for freshwater aquariums due to its stunning appearance and hardy nature. Featuring a sleek silver body with a hint of green and shimmering, iridescent scales, these minnows also display vivid red fins that add a touch of elegance. Originating from cool, slow-moving streams in China, they are well-suited to a range of aquarium setups.

Maximum adult size: 4 cm
Temperament: Peaceful, ideal for community tanks
Difficulty of care: Easy, great for beginners
Preferred Temperature: 1622°C
Preferred pH of water: 6.08.0
Type of breeding: Egg scatterer

White Cloud Mountain Minnows thrive in cooler water and do not require a heater in most temperate climates. They are active, schooling fish that should be kept in groups of at least six to promote natural behaviours. These omnivores are not fussy eaters and will accept high-quality flakes, pellets, and small live or frozen foods. Breeding is relatively easy, as the species scatter their eggs among plants or substrates. Removing adults after spawning will increase the survival rate of fry.
