This rhino head sculpture is of a rhino named Storm whose mother was killed by poachers in 2012, and this sculpture has the unique nicked left ear Storm is recognized by.

He is the first male rhino raised in captivity that successfully bred with another rhino orphan named Wyntir, and together they had Blizzy, the first rhino born in captivity from rescued orphans, a truly historic event.

Storm lives at Care For Wild Rhino Sanctuary which is the largest rhino sanctuary in the world, founded by Petronel Nieuwoudt in 2011.

Though rhinos are often solitary, they do occasionally form groups. Called crashes, these groups are made up of a female and her offspring. A dominant male rules over an area of land. The male will allow some sub-dominate males to live on his territory. Females roam freely around several different territories.
