White Soldiers in Africa
In 1964 black African politicians, trained in Peking, rebelled against the Congolese central government. The rebellion quickly gained ground and chaos was imminent in the country which had only recently been forcibly united at great sacrifice. Moise Tshombe requested former British Major Michael Hoare to organise a regiment of white mercenaries to assist the harassed national army and to ensure peace in the Congo. Dr Hans Germani, a medical doctor, joined one of Hoare's battle groups of White Giants, consisting of South Africans and Europeans. Translated from the German by Dr E Landsberg.
First South African edition published 1967 by Nasionale Boekhandel Beperk, Cape Town.
