Wide Suspender Victorian Naval Long Service Medal (Named)

The medal is engraved C's Algar, Blacksmth, H.M.S. Seringapatam 20 Yrs.

In the Simonstown Historical Society Bulletin of July 2020 (available digitally on the internet) there are articles on both the Algar family (a well-known Naval family from Simonstown) and the ship Seringapatam.

Charles Henry Algar was born 1824 in Pelynt, a village in Cornwall and died in Simonstown in 1892.

The medal is the scarce variety with the wide suspender.
