The Nintendo Wii SD card adapter or also know as the Gecko v2 has never been such a viable way of making backups of your valuable original games. You can now use SD memory cards using the WiiKey SD Adapter to make images of you games and save to the PC. The price of SD memory is no longer extreme either, 2GB cards can be bought for a low cost in most stores.

This adapter is also used as a memory card for when wanting to play GameCube games on the Wii to save your game progress, with this Wii SD card adapter you will never loose your save position again.

Instructions

First, YES, you have to have a modchip for this to work. The adapter doesn't need a modchip you have cIOS installed. Much of the early homebrew ran from similar adapters.

1. It is a device where you plug an SD card (up to 2gb) in a slot on the top... of the wii key adapter

2. You then plug that into the gamecube memory slots behind a "hidden" plastic flap on top of the wii.

3. Now you research and choose a method for backing up wii and GC games. The one recommend here is SoftDEV Backup Utility 0.1g. Google that and find out how to use it.

4. In the end you take out the SD card and transfer it to your computer using a memory card reader or a mem card slot on your PC. You will then re-join all the files to create a ISO file that will be a complete backup of your original game. You can burn that later if your disc gets scratched or something but you MUST have a modchip or the backup loader channel installed with the Homebrew channel to play backups.
