Famous Iconic Recording by Wilhelm Backhaus with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Karl Bohm. Brahms Piano Concerto No. 2 in B Flat, Opus 83.
Famed for its sound quality from the best era of Decca analogue recordings, recorded in Vienna. The soloist Wilhem Backhaus is understated but very emotional in some passages. He was in his 80s at this time and died shortly thereafter. This is the definitive recording by a man born in the 1800s who actually knew Brahms and went to his performances!
In fact he went to a concert where this piece was played by his own piano teacher with the orchestra conducted by Brahms!
I have playgraded the vinyl both sides. It presents as shiny. There is a bit of surface noise at the beginning of each side and one recurring tic but nothing serious. No skips or jumps. I would grade it Very Good.
The cover is bright and glossy, no faults , graded Excellent or Very Good Plus.
