Wilhelm Ploner was born in Vienna, Austria in 1941 where at the age of 18 years, studied fine art at the Kunsthochschule. Since immigrating to South Africa in 1968, he has been painting professionally in oil and acrylic. He is seen amongst the most versatile artists in the world, from abstract to realism and a true gift to capture the essence of his subjects in the landscape and portraits he paints.
