The Williams banana tree is of average height of 2.4-3.7 meters with a cylindrical bunch, a large stem that can produce up to 300 fruits of identical size of about 20 cm, slightly incurved and upwards pointing. The main trunk has dark brown, red or black patches.

Bananas can be grown in a wide range of soils as long as there is good drainage and adequate fertility. They can tolerate short periods of flooding but do require good soil aeration. Light to medium, well drained loam soil is the best.
