History of the Colony of the Cape Of Good Hope From Its Discovery to the Year 1819  By A. Wilmot, Esq. From 1820 to 1868 By The Hon. John Centlivres Chase, M.L.C.", published by J.C. Juta, 1869. Boards are solid and square, but worn, marked and rubbed, and an extension to the title has been written in pen under the original title on the spine. Internally, the  ex-libris label of a previous owner is attached to front paste-wdown, that also has various names and notes in pen. There is a pen marginal note on page 417, and a few pencil ones in the appendix. The pages are however crisp, with a little foxing / spotting, in places. Several loose newspaper clippings have been inserted between pages in the book, and some of these have left "shadows" on those pages.
