The idea behind this build was to create an XP machine that would have been top of the range in 2007 when XP was discontinued.
1Tb drives, Intel Quad-Core CPUs and G31 M/boards were all launched in 2007. I went with a more recent graphics card (2014) for reliability.
The HD8490 performance is comparable to the top cards of 2007, eg GTX 8800 so it fits in well with this build.
32 bit Windows will only make use of 3.4Gb RAM hence the 2+1 configuration.
