Wingfield - a Pictorial History by Gerry de Vries No. 464 of 1500 books. Hardcover with 312 pages. Good condition. Dedicated to the forty one men and a W.A.A.F who died while conducting the war from Wingfield. It reflects the unique history of this airfield, beginning as the Cape Town Municipal Aerodrome, used by the SAAF as AFS Wingfield, developed by the Royal Navy as a Fleet Air Arm base and after the war becoming Cape Town's Municipal Airport yet again. B/W photos depicting air/ground crews, plane crashes. Included is a detailed record of aircraft crashes in the Cape area.
