 A Large Silver Medal to Commemorate the Death in 1965 of Sir Winston Churchill and the Longstanding Friendship Between him and Jan Smuts.

Produced by Bickles of Johannesburg in 1966 in gold, silver and bronze.  Reference: Commemorative Medals of South African Interest, by Anna Smith, No. 372 where it is recorded that the silver mintage was 750.  Artists: A. Tromp (Churchill) and  David MacGregor (Smuts).  

Silver, so marked on the edge. Also stamped with a sequence number 032 on edge.  Diameter 51.1 mm. Mass 68.3 gm (more than 2 oz).  The medal is in excellent condition.
