This infrared thermometer measures surface temperature and is suitable for safe, rapid, non-contact measurement of various hot, dangerous, or hard-to-reach objects. The device consists of an optical component, a temperature sensor signal amplifier, processing circuitry, and an LCD display. The optical component collects infrared energy emitted by the object and focuses it onto the sensor. The sensor then converts the energy into an electrical signal.
