Contains coloured fold-out map at front showing South Africa and larger inset maps of Western Frontier and Natal (closed tear at bottom of bound edge). There is no index or contents pages, these must form part of other volumes. Dark blue boards covers with gilt lettering to front and spine. Corners and spine-ends are lightly rubbed and bumped, binding is very sound with black paste downs and endpapers, hinge is solid.  Page are clean. Contains many black and white illustrations. No dust-jacket. Undated by publisher.
