This DVD, although second-hand, was watched once and is as new

A beautiful BBC mini-series adaptation of the period classic from Elizabeth Gaskell's (author of Cranford, North and South, Sylvia's Lovers) unfinished novel.

The decision of long-time widower Mr Gibson to remarry has several repercussions for his daughter, Molly, who resents the arrival of her stepmother. However, Molly also acquires a stepsister, Cynthia, with whom she soon forms a close bond; a bond which is later put to the test when they both set their caps at the same man.

Cast includes:

Francesca Annis, Ian Carmichael, Deborah Findlay, Barbara Flynn, Michael Gambon, Iain Glen, Keeley Hawes, Tom Hollander, Anthony Howell, Barbara Leigh-Hunt, Bill Paterson, Justine Waddell and Penelope Wilton.

If you enjoy "Larkrise to Candleford", "Downton Abbey", "Cranford" or "North and South" (BBC) you should enjoy this mini-series.
