Wmf Germany Art Nouveau silver plated fruit or patisserie basket circa 1900

Offered for sale is an attractive Wmf German silver plated fruit or bread/patisserie basket with a glass liner. Wmf is an abbreviation for Wuerttembergische Metallwarenfabrik a world famous producer of quality silver plated items.  This item dates to the early 1900's and the style is typical of the Belle Epoque/Art Nouveau era . The basket is boat shaped with a large hooped handle attached laterally. The silver plated basket is decorated with a motif of roses, oval cartouches on the two sides of the basket and intricately detailed borders and strapwork. The basket has its original glass inner liner with scalloped extremities and an etched upper border. The piece is in good condition with very minor plate rubbing ; the glass liner has a small chip on the inner border -please refer to 3rd picture for a close up.
