The Rand McNally series are good general reference books. This book discusses a number of representative military and civilian planes for each nation. Each plane will typically have one or two pages, providing a good text history, three line drawings showing front, top and side views, and a colored perspective drawing. Aircraft specifications are listed separately from the text. This book covers all kinds of aircraft including bombers, fighters, airliners, seaplanes and racers. Yet this is NOT a complete inventory.

The last two segments of this book briefly discuss and illustrate eight representative aircraft engines. Two more pages give a brief chronology of major aircraft events from 1919 to 1935.
