The World Rally Championship is a 14-round series for four-wheel drive, turbocharged rally cars that are based on production models like the Mitsubishi Lancer, Subaru Impreza, Ford Focus or Peugeot 206. The driver line-up includes, among others, four-times world champion Tommi Makkinen, Richard Burns, Carlos Sainz and Marcus Gronholm. The year 2001 saw 7 different manufacturers competing for overall drivers' and constructors' championships.

Included are all the cars, all the teams, all the drivers, all the locations of the real WRC event, including in 14 rallies across the world, 70+ stages and 5 super-special head to head events.

The game also features deformation and damage to car and progressive mud, dirt, dust damage on vehicles. Full body deformation on the cars allows the bodywork to be realistically and accurately damaged from dented panels, smashed windows to total car disintegration depending on the severity of the crash. In addition to body deformation, cars become progressively dirty as mud and dust builds up in layers rendering the liveries unrecognisable in it's most extreme state.
