The official World War II works of Neville Lewis. Softcover edition with bi-lingual text published by the S A Museum of Military History in 1984. 52 pages featuring sixty-six thumbnail portrait pictures of leading SA Military figures. Good condition with insect damage to outside back cover. The artist was the first of eight official artists to be appointed by the SA Department of Defence to concentrate on portraits of military personalities. During World War II he produced portraits in oil. He frequently painted and drew persons actively involved in the war effort ranging from a member of the South African Native Military Corps to a nurse. Several of these images were used on postage stamps during the war. Lewis painted three portraits of Field Marshal Bernard Law Montgomery.
