Burleigh Ware Jug, "Sally in Our Alley" c. 1940s

The jug is in excellent condition with no cracks, chips or restoration work done on it.

It is 24.5CM'S in length with a base diameter of 11.5cm's.

Base is clearly marked Burleigh Ware - Made in England

The song that is the basis for the jug was a romantic ballad written by Henry Carey (1687-1743), an English poet, dramatist and songwriter.  It tells the story of a spirited but poor girl who is waiting for her love's seven years of indentured servitude (he is evidently apprenticed to a tradesman) to end so that they can be married.
