WOW !!! FRIEDRICH CHRISTIAN HECKMANN ORIGINAL  OIL. 19th CENTURY IN A STUNNING FRAME , READY TO HANG

Signed by Friedrich Christian  Heckmann, a painter who spent much of his life in Paarl and who at one point had his own framing shop.  Tremendous painstaking fine detail on this one. The painting shows thick use of oil paint but with a fine brush. See close-up photographs.  Judging from the style, subject, and frame this painting probably dates from 80 years ago, , perhaps older. The artist arrived in Paarl in 1926. His early paintings are signed Fr. Heckmann like this one but his later work is signed F.C. Heckmann. Many of his drawings were incorporated in the book Stellenbosch Drie Eeue. Prof. Heckmann believes that this work of her grandfather's probably dates from the 1920s or 1930s
