WOW - Sought after polished Coco De Mer (Lodicea) - remarkable female form PLUS male Catkin

Because of their size and female shape, the seeds/nuts of the Lodoicea have been highly prized for centuries (as they still are today) and their rarity caused great interest and high prices in Royal Courts (originally thought to grow on mythical trees at the bottom of the sea). Endemic to the Seychelles the Lodoicea produces the largest seed in the plant kingdom. There are only about 7000 trees  in the Seychelles  and the harvesting is strictly controlled by the government.  This particular vintage Seychelles souvenir has a polished Coco de Mer seed plus catkin from the male Lodoicea tree. Male and female trees grow separately and Folklore from the Seychelles Island Foundation claims the erotic-looking male catkins and female pelvic-shaped double nuts move together in the dark. This souvenir measures 15cm x 13cm x 6cm.  The Coco de Mer seed and catkin have been attached to the stand by nails on base  so easy enough to remove should you prefer to display on their own.    Refer images
