This is a vintage bronze gilt replica spoon set of the anointing spoon forming part of the coronation regalia. Holy oil is poured from the Ampulla, which is in the form of a gold eagle, into the spoon. The spoon is then applied by the officiating Bishop or Archbishop to the new sovereigns head, breast and palms. Length 11cm

The Anointing Spoon of which the enclosed is a faithful reproduction, is of great Historic importance: Authentic Records clearly shows that it dates back to the 12th Century and has been used in the Ceremonies of the Coronation of our King from that date.
