G.H Gledhill & Sons Ltd Wooden Cash Register

Beautiful antique piece. Still in very good condition. 50cm x 25cm x 20cm (heavy). Dovetail joints. Gledhill's Patent Cash Tills. No key. Bell still works and till roll working. Both drawer and lid are unlocked. Company was established by George H Gledhill to produce his new inventions. He was supported by his sons Arthur and Gilbert. He invented the automatic cash till in 1886 in Halifax and then in 1892 moved to Harrison street, Halifax to manufacture cash tills. He opened 2 more in Halifax and 1 in Huddersfield. The firm brought Frank Brooks to create Gledhill - Brook Time recorders in 1912 (so this till was before the merge). During WW2 they produced many military items. This till is dated between 1892 and 1912. The case is made by Dudley & Co, Halloway who used to manufacture quality cabinets and showcases. Case is solid Teak. Fully functional.
