Under Bill Mitchell, head of design at General Motors, the exterior of the Camaro received a facelift in 1969. The bumper were integrated to the actual body of the car and wheel wells were flattened for more aggressive look. Available in sport coupe and convertible models, the Camaro Super Sport was tough and very powerful. It boasted a 5.85 liter V8 engine that could produce up to 375 horsepower capable of nearing and even topping speed of 200 km/h (124 mph). Almost 34,000 units of the feisty Camaro SS were produced in 1969. the 1969 Camaro was the highest volume first generation Camaro, selling some 243,000 units of the now legendary model.
