Product information
At the heart of this kit is the popular WS2811S IC in SOIC-8 format. The IC is fairly easy to solder to the included adapter board and can drive a single common-anode RGB LED or three single-color LEDs of your choice. The IC sinks approximately 18mA constant current and eliminates the use of voltage dropping resistors. The kit is extendable by connecting the output from one IC to the input of another. The IC interfaces to a microcontroller at either 400 kHz or 800 kHz. There are currently a number of Arduino libraries available on the Internet that supports this IC. A popular one is the Adafruit developed Neopixel library
