South African Indigenous Perennial Flowering Bulb

Wurmbea is a genus is the Colchicaceae family from sub-saharan Africa and Australia. The rootstock is a corm and flowers are star or trumpet-shaped. Wurmbea elatior or "Pepper-and-Salt flower" grows to 40cm in height. This is a summer growing species. The leaves have sheathing stems and slender tips. The flowers are musky smelling and white with shiny deep red to purplish black markings from summer to autumn.
