Wurmbea is a genus is the Colchicaceae family from sub-saharan Africa and Australia. The rootstock is a corm and flowers are star or trumpet-shaped.

Wurmbea spicata grows to 20 cm tall. It does most of its growing during winter. It has a dense inflorescence of fragrant star-shaped cream flowers that can be with or without dark margins. Wurmbea spicata will flower in spring and go into dormancy during summer. This species is very well suited to pot culture.
