WW1 Pair & Death Plaque awarded to Francis Johannes Petrus Kruger, a 27 year old boiler maker from Johannesburg, attested into the 1st South African Infantry Brigade on 17.01.1917 as a Pte. with S/No: 10974. He was drafted into the 2nd South African Infantry Regiment and arrived in Rouen, France on 26.06.1917. He joined the unit on 26.09.1917 in the Houlle area. It was during the Great German Spring Offensive the following year that Francis Kruger sustained such serious wounds during action that he died in the field. Service papers confirm that this is his only entitlement. Regret no overseas bidders.
