A fine example of a WW1 Pattern 1907 bayonet by J.A.C. Chapman for use with the Short Magazine Lee Enfield (SMLE) rifle. Uncleaned and sold as found, the bayonet is in good antique condition with the locking button functional.
Marks (left ricasso) : Crown and "G.R." (George Rex - King George) over "1907" (pattern model) over "12" and "16" (manufacture date - December, 1916) over "Chapman" (manufacturer).
Marks (right ricasso) : War Office broad arrow and "X" (bend test stamp) with 3 Enfield inspection stamps.
Marks (pommel) : South African Union military broad arrow.
Scabbard : Double-stitched leather with steel top-mount (Stamped "RF") and chape. The bayonet inserts and withdraws smoothly and is held firmly in the scabbard.

Length (blade) : 43 cm
