WW1 - Christmas '1914 Princess Mary' Brass Box & Christmas Card

 

This early brass box, with its original small Christmas card, was given to all British soldiers and sailors as a Christmas gift. It was the initiative of Princess Mary (who was 17 at the time), and when originally given contained cigarettes, candy, pencils etc, as well as this small Christmas card, with the words 'With Best Wishes for a Victorious New Year, From the Princess Mary and Friends at Home'. The brass box is in excellent condition and measures 13cm x 8,5cm x 3cm.
