WW1 Hunsicker & Alexis, Paris Roof Prism Binoculars. War Office Stamped.

A pair of WW1 French roof prism binoculars by Paris manufacturers Hunsicker & Alexis. They were renowned optical instrument makers during the early 20th century and supplied precision optics to both the French Ministry of War and the British War Office during World War I.

Their binoculars were widely used by military personnel, including the British Royal Field Artillery, due to their durability and quality. They were particularly popular with the trench mortar units. This pair has independent optic focusing which was cutting-edge technology at the time.

The front bears two War Office broad arrow marks and are also stamped "Hunsicker & Alexis, Paris" to one side and "M.G." with a serial number to the other. The binoculars are in good overall antique condition and seem to function well. Please note the slight distortion of one lens surround. The original leather strap is present and intact.
