WW1 'K.I.A.' Medal Pair to 'L/CPL. E.S. Waterman' (6th S.A.I.)
This original, South African Great War casualty pair of full-size medals were awarded to 'Lance Corporal Edwin Swaine Waterman', who was killed in action on the 12th of February 1916 at the 'Battle of Salaita Hill' in Kenya whilst serving with the 6th Regiment of the South African Infantry. He was one of 138 South Africans who lost their lives during that battle and is buried at the 'Taveta Military Cemetery' in Kenya. The medals are in great condition and nicely tarnished with their ribbons.
NOTE: The Battle of Salaita Hill was the first major WW1 battle in East Africa involving South African Forces.
