WW1 - 'K.I.A.' Pair of Medals to 'PTE. J.W. HARRAP' (1ST S.A.I.)
This original, Great War casualty pair of full-size medals were awarded to 'PTE. J.W. HARRAP' (JOHN WILLIAM) who was killed inaction, in France on Friday 12th July 1918 at the very young age of18, whilst serving with the 1st Regiment of the South African Infantry Brigade. According to records, he also served and was wounded in German East Africa. He is buried at the 'Caestre Military Cemetery' in the North of France. Attached are the details and photographs of his records and headstone from the S.A. War Graves Project. These medals could do with some further research, otherwise they're in excellent condition, nicely tarnished, and come with their original ribbons.
Note: This pair of medals came with a QSA Medal (J.HARRUP), that I have listed separately. Although a slightly different spelling, I believe this to be the father of the above recipient and is possibly a spelling mistake on the QSA Medal.
Please feel free to email me with any queries, and please look closely at the pictures provided as they are of the actual item and form a vital part of the description.
