WW1 Full size War Medal/Bilingual Victory Medal and Death Plaque named to Samual Harris.Harris served in the Anglo-Boer War with the Royal Engineers and sustained a serious gunshot wound to the thigh. He attested into the 1st Mounted Brigade 3rd SAH on 15.03.1916. During action in East Africa he was reported as MIA on 08.09.1916 and later confirmed as P.O.W. Although no reports were received by the enemy, evidence supplied by returning servicemen informed that Harris has died from Blackwater on 04.04.1917 whilst still in captivity. In 1926 his remains were exhumed from their isolated location and reinterred at the Dar es Salaam War Cemetery in Tanzania. Included is detailed service papers and 3rd SAH shoulder title.
