WW1 Compass in Leather Case
On offer this very rare find, a WW1 Prismatic Compass in its original leather case. It is working fine and leather strap and buckle on the leather holder also still in good working condition. It has a diameter of 5.3cm and when closed is 2cm thick. The leather holder measures 9cm long and 6.5cm wide. The compass has a marking "Mark V11". The leather case has marking:"Jabez Cliff & C Walsall, 1918" and also what looks like "3rd Battery AIF" and a little arrow on the back of the holder. These compasses were widely used in WW1. The compass has a little lever on the side that locks and unlocks the compass. The prism can be lowered to get a magnified view of degrees. It is in a brass casing and the hinged lid opens and closes perfectly. On the underside of the compass a circular applied piece of leather presumably to make it slip proof.
Rare Find for the Avid Collector!!!
