This scarce, original, antique silver/white metal First World War good luck doll charm with moveable arms with thumbs-up, wings on his ankles, a wooden head with a tiny carved shamrock on his forehead, is in great condition, except for one tiny missing eye. Note: These good luck charms were given by sweethearts and family members to soldiers going to fight in the Great War, and were often attached to a card with a poem, which read:
"Behold in me the birth of luck, two charms combined TOUCH WOOD-FUMSUP, my head is made of wood most rare, my thumbs turnup to touch me there. To speed my feet they've Cupids wings, they'll help true love amongst other things. Proverbial is my power to bring good luck to you in everything. I'll bring good luck to all away, just send me to a friend today.
